India’s financial markets have enjoyed a 5 year bull run in derivatives trading.  India’s regulator, the Forward Markets Commission, has reported that Commodities worth 2.38 trillion rupees ($56 billion) were traded in the period compared with 1.17 trillion rupees a year earlier.

But the recent ban on trading commodities imposed by the Indian Watchdog in 2008 has stunted India’s continued development.

However, this ban is due to end, as the Indian government relaxes regulatory measures. And together with the prospective introduction of currency futures as well as Direct Market Access - the future of the Indian market still remains bright.
